Voyage en Europe: Pays-Bas / Trip to Europe: the Netherlands

Nous sommes arrivés par Amsterdam. La visite a inclus le Rijksmuseum qui contient des tableaux de Rembrandt et Vermeer.

We landed in Amsterdam and sampled some of its well-known sights including The Rijksmuseum.

Puis nous sommes allés à Eindhoven où on se retrouve vite dans la campagne pour chasser le sanglier le matin tout en pouvant visiter un des plus anciens musées d’art contemporains d’Europe l’après-midi en passant par un salon de thé bien fourni.

Then we went to Eindhoven where you can walk to the country side in the morning to hunt wild boars and get back to one of the first contemporary art museum of Europe in the afternoon while stopping for good cake and coffee in between.

Les Pays-Bas sont le pays du vélo où il existe un excellent réseau de pistes ou routes calmes bien indiqué et à la topographie très plate. Nous nous devions d’essayer !

The Netherlands is the country of cycling where roads leave more room for bikes than cars, a great network of cycleways and quiet street is clearly signposted and of course the topography is very flat. We had to give it a go!

En route vers la France, nous nous sommes arrêtés à Rotterdam. La ville est moderne avec quelques immeubles intéressants comme les halles ou les maisons cubiques.

On our way to France we had a short stopover in Rotterdam, a modern city with interesting architecture such as the Market hall or the Cube Houses.

Peu de vieux immeubles ou maisons sont encore là après les bombardements de la seconde guerre mondiale mais on peut en trouver dans le centre et surtout à Delfshaven.

There are little historical buildings left after it was bombed during WW2 but some can be seen in the centre of town or in Delfshaven.

Finalement, un arrêt imprévu nous a permis de découvrir Bruxelles.

Finally, an unscheduled stopover allowed us to get a taste of Brussels.
