European Trip

Avec beaucoup de retard, je me décide enfin à partager quelques photos que j’ai prises en Octobre, lors de mon séjour en Europe. Il y a deux mois je fus envoyé pendant une semaine à Munich pour assister à une conférence et j’ai ensuite passé la semaine suivante à Milan, Paris et Göteborg, pour rencontrer quelques clients.

With a lot of delay, I finally managed to get my act together to talk about my trip in Europe. Early October, I spent a week in Munich for a conference and then had to see some customers in Italy, France and Sweden.

Ma semaine à Munich fut très intéressante. J’ai eu la chance d’arriver le dernier jour de Oktoberfest mais comme j’étais très fatiguée, je n’ai pu assisté à la débauche habituelle du touristes et/ou allemands buvant litre après litre de bière… Dommage que je n’aime pas la bière.

My first week in Munich was really interesting. I had the good fortune to arrive the last day of Oktoberfest and managed to have a glimpse of the atmosphere. It is in fact a giant amusement park with the addition of huge tents where people can drink liters and liters of beers and eat a bit (so I suppose). Shame I don’t like beer! I didn’t manage to stay awake long enough to see the real party in the evening as I had arrived in the morning from Sydney.

Munich est une très jolie ville (pour ce que j’en ai vu) avec énormément de vélos (c’est surtout ça qui m’a impressionné), de très jolies églises et de vieux bâtiments ainsi que pas mal d’espaces verts. Mon premier jour à Munich m’a fait découvrir un parc entièrement fait de petits jardinets entretenu par des particuliers. On pouvait y trouver des arbres fruitiers, différents potagers, fleurs de toutes sortes, petits cabanons qui pour certains avaient été aménagé pour que les gens y séjournent durant le week-end etc. Cela donnait un air de campagne en pleine ville qui était vraiment très agréable.

Munich is a lovely city. I was amazed to see so many bicycles and there are a lot of beautiful churches and old buildings (especially in the city center). I was really impressed by the fact that there is so many parks and discovered an area where people have their own small garden with orchards, flowers, vegetable patches and sheds that have been for certain, refurbished. I do not know exactly how we can call this area but it was really impressive and I had this feeling of countryside in the city which was quiet pleasant.

Le week-end d’après nous avons conduit de Munich à Milan en passant à travers les Alpes. Les paysages étaient à couper le souffle. Après presque 6 ans en Australie, on oublie un peu que les montagnes peuvent être hautes, très abruptes et surtout très vertes.

The following week-end, we drove from Munich to Milan through the Alps. The landscape was breathtaking. After almost 6 years in Australia, one can easily forget that mountains can be really high, steep and green!

Le reste du séjour c’est passé assez rapidement entre Milan, Paris et Gothenburg ou j’ai pour la première fois découvert la Suède et m’a donné envie d’y retourner avec Vivien.

The next week went quickly between Milan, Paris and Gothenburg where I discovered for the first time Sweden and it made me want to come back with Vivien.
